Good Eats…the clean version

Along with a goal of being a better blogger, I’m eating better this year. For some reason pregnancy gives me the ultimate excuse to indulge… Especially since I grow such tiny babies, I really think I *need* that extra bowl of ice cream or those Chick Fila fries. My plan for eating is pretty simple. It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle. {ha. I totally sound like an infomercial} But it really is. My goal is to completely erase all processed food from my diet for 30 days. I figure if I can do it for 30 days it’ll be a lifestyle. I’m not forcing my family to do this… yet. And hopefully that, plus training for another half marathon, will help me tackle some of this baby weight I’ve got hanging around. While I tend to cook fairly healthy anyways – I haven’t found this to be too challenging. The hard part has been giving up chips and white bread…bc let’s be honest…whole wheat just isn’t as good. It’s just not. But that’s okay… I’m 5 days in and so far, so good. I even successfully ate out this weekend. What I really like about this approach to eating is that it encourages balanced eating… you aren’t leaving out any food groups. You also aim to eat three meals/two snacks a day… which with two little ones isn’t always easy, but I’m trying. So who knows…Hopefully you won’t see me sneaking some Chick fila fries in the next 30 days…

So here’s what’s cooking this week…. Oh and if you are at all interested in learning more about going “clean” you should check out The Gracious Pantry or Clean Eating Magazine online. They have meal plans AND shopping lists. Double Win. And once you see their meal plans, you’ll realize how easy it is to go clean. I promise.  {And if you are a “clean” freak… I’m sure I’ve messed up somewhere in my menu planning (and let’s be honest, I’m still drinking coffee and wine which I think is okay? but not sure)… for example, we use the Green Egg to smoke/grill a few times a week… is that okay? who knows. but that’s how we roll}

Anyways, it’s a little random… I noticed I had a bunch of frozen meat in the freezer we needed to use up. And I do the whole Fri/Sat thing because one of those nights we will cook, the other eat out or get carry out.

Sunday: Smoked Ribs, steamed broccoli & ww (whole wheat) garlic bread

Monday: Pork tenderloin with mushrooms & leeks

Tuesday: Mahi Mahi with red pepper, pineapple & brown rice

Wednesday: Stuffed Grilled peppers

Thursday: Burgers, tomato mozzarella salad

Friday/Sat: margarita pizza with this crust

love it! and thanks for the links. i will check them out. i am trying to shed some lbs (like about 30!!! haha) and am always looking for healthy recipes.

Making it into a lifestyle rather than a quick diet is so smart. Diets,at least for me, don’t last. ;). Love getting menu ideas from others–thanks!
